Project Overview
This 2-storey luxury villa in Ajanta Colony, Meerut has been carefully designed to reflect a harmonious blend of modern planning and classic design sensibilities.
The residence accommodates three well-defined bedrooms, with one located on the ground floor for accessibility and two on the first floor for privacy and comfort.
The project was executed with a focus on proportion, spatial flow, and experiential design, ensuring that every space feels connected yet individually expressive.
🧭 Design Philosophy
The core idea behind this project was to create a “Modern Classic Living Environment” — a space that does not follow trends blindly, but instead delivers long-term elegance, functionality, and visual richness.
Every decision — from elevation to interior detailing — was guided by:
- Architectural balance and proportion
- Material richness and textural contrast
- Thoughtful spatial planning for modern lifestyles
- Creating a sense of timelessness while embracing contemporary comforts
- Balance between minimalism and ornamentation
- Emotional comfort through warm lighting and textures
- Timeless material selection
- Architectural depth rather than surface decoration
🏗️ Architectural Language
The exterior design is built around clean geometry enhanced with subtle classical elements, creating a façade that feels both modern and rooted.
Key Architectural Intentions:
- Strong vertical and horizontal lines for visual stability
- Arched elements to soften modern rigidity
- Layered façade to add depth and shadow play
- Controlled use of textures and neutral tones
The result is a visually commanding yet elegant elevation that stands out without being excessive.
🏠 Space Planning Strategy
Ground Floor:
- Open-plan living and dining area to maximize spatial flow and natural light
- Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom for privacy and convenience
- Service areas (kitchen, utility) positioned for functional efficiency
- Guest washroom located near the living area for accessibility
- Outdoor courtyard/garden accessible from the living area to extend the living space outdoors
- Staircase positioned as a central architectural feature, connecting the two floors while maintaining visual openness
First Floor:
- Two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms for family members or guests
- Each bedroom designed with large windows for natural light and views
- Shared lounge area on the first floor to create a private retreat space separate from the ground floor living areas
- Balcony access from the lounge area to provide an outdoor extension of the private living space
- Efficient circulation with a central hallway connecting the bedrooms and lounge area
- Bedroom with en-suite bathroom for privacy and convenience
This layout promotes a seamless flow between spaces while ensuring that each area serves its intended function effectively.
Overall, the design of this villa is a thoughtful integration of architectural form, materiality, and spatial planning, resulting in a home that is both visually stunning and highly livable.
🪵 Interior Design Approach
The interior design of the villa is a continuation of the architectural language, with a focus on creating a cohesive and luxurious living environment.
Key Interior Design Principles:
- Material richness: Use of high-quality materials such as natural stone, wood, and textured fabrics to create a sense of luxury and tactile interest
- Textural contrast: Combining smooth surfaces with textured elements to add depth and visual interest
- Neutral color palette: A sophisticated palette of neutrals with strategic pops of color to create a timeless aesthetic
- Layered lighting: A mix of ambient, task, and accent lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere while highlighting architectural features
- Thoughtful furniture selection: Custom-designed pieces that complement the architectural style while providing comfort and functionality
- Art and accessories: Curated art pieces and accessories that enhance the overall design narrative without overwhelming the space
✨ The Staircase - The Signature Feature
At the heart of the villa lies a grand staircase that serves as both a functional element and a sculptural centerpiece.
The design of the staircase was carefully considered to enhance the overall architectural language of the villa while providing a visually striking focal point.
Key Design Intent:
- Open riser design to maintain visual openness and allow light to filter through
- Integration with the surrounding architecture to ensure it feels like a natural extension of the space rather than an afterthought
- Strategic lighting to highlight the staircase as a key architectural feature, creating dramatic shadows and enhancing its sculptural quality
Features:
- Custom-designed balustrade that complements the overall design language of the villa
- Sleek glass railing combined with strong structural lines
- Integrated lighting that enhances depth and shadow
- Positioned to naturally draw attention upon entry
The staircase not only serves its practical purpose but also elevates the design of the villa, making it a memorable and defining feature of the home.
💡 Lighting Design Strategy
Lighting has been treated as a primary design element, not an afterthought.
Layers of Lighting:
- Ambient lighting: Soft, diffused lighting to create a warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the villa
- Task lighting: Focused lighting in key areas such as the kitchen, bathrooms, and reading nooks to enhance functionality
- Accent lighting: Strategically placed to highlight architectural features, artwork, and key design elements such as the staircase
This layered approach ensures that the space transforms beautifully across different times of the day.
🎨 Material & Finish Palette
The palette pairs graphic black & white chevron tiles with light stone surfaces, warm timber slats and soft grey upholstery — a sophisticated, low-maintenance mix. A careful balance of textures and tones creates visual interest without overwhelming the senses, ensuring the space feels luxurious yet comfortable and livable.
- Natural stone flooring and cladding for durability and timeless appeal
- Soft neutral wall tones (Beige, Cream, Warm White)
- Textured wall finishes in key areas for added depth
- Custom woodwork and cabinetry in rich, warm tones to add a sense of craftsmanship and luxury
- Metal accents in matte black or brushed brass for a modern touch
- Textiles in a mix of textures (velvet, linen, leather) to create a tactile and inviting environment
🌿 Outdoor & Transitional Spaces
The villa features a thoughtfully designed outdoor courtyard/garden that serves as an extension of the living space, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors.
Key Design Elements:
- Seamless indoor-outdoor flow with large sliding glass doors
- Use of natural materials and greenery to create a tranquil retreat
- Outdoor seating areas designed with pergola structure for shaded usability for relaxation and socializing
